ABOUT US
das Fernweh is a German word which describes the feeling opposite of homesickness; rather, das Fernweh is the desire to pursue new and unfamiliar places and activities. The closest English translation? Wanderlust.
We sell limited edition hardcovers of your favorite classics! Don’t see something you’re interested in? We can design and create a custom limited edition of any physical book, working with you on pricing. Whether you want a customized gift for a loved one, or want ~that~ quote from your favorite book on the back cover, The Fernweh Rebindery has something to offer you.
Hello there! My name is Abigail Stanger. Upon graduating from the University of Louisville with a degree in History in May 2024, I experienced my strongest feelings of das Fernweh.
I began rebinding some of my old books as a creative hobby and have become enraptured by the process. As a historian, the concept of preserving knowledge in a form that is easier to consume and visually appealing is not a foreign one.
In September 2024, I will move to Germany to begin teaching English as a second language. I plan to continue rebinding books and contributing to the creative community in Lower Saxony. Don’t worry, I will still be taking international orders coming from home!
There are a multitude of ways you can follow my journey and keep up with The Fernweh Rebindery!
